Draw inspiration from Guru Teg Bahadur's teachings: President

New Delhi, Nov 23 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday said people should draw inspiration from the teachings of Guru Teg Bahadur and strive to be worthy of his noble legacy.

Guru Teg Bahadur taught us the importance of oneness of all humankind, selfless service and righteousness, the president said in a message on the eve of the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur, the ninth Sikh prophet.

His vision transcended all barriers of caste, creed, race, religion and gender, Mukherjee said.

"On this day, let us renew our commitment to peace and non-violence. Let us pledge to strongly oppose forces that seek to spread enmity and terror. Let us strive to unite all humanity under the umbrella of a common brotherhood," he added.
