Beltangady, Aug 16: The 130th conference of the Society of St Vincent De Paul (SSVP) under Mangalore Central Council opened in St John Baptist church, Kokkada here recently.
The conference was named as St John Baptist Conference. Fr Ronald Cutinha, diocesan director of the SSVP inaugurated the conference by lighting the lamp.
Fr Stany Monteiro, parish priest, Br Gilbert Pinto, president of central committee, Br George Noronha vice-president, Br Edward Mascarenhas president of area council and others were present.
A team of office-earers were also elected. Robert Galbao was elected as president, Cyril D’Souza as vice-president, Maxim Lobo as secretary, John Coelho as joint secretary and Ronald Menezes as treasurer.
John Monteiro, vice-president of parish proposed the vote of thanks. Br Gilbert Pinto explained the rules and regulations of the Society.
