Panaji, Aug. 15: Every household in Goa will be connected through broadband Internet connection by December, which will be the first of its kind achievement in the country, chief minister Digamber Kamat said on Wednesday.

"The developmental focus in Goa will be the common person who will contribute for the overall growth of the state," he said while addressing a gathering after unfurling the national flag at Old Secretariate here to mark the Independence Day.

Kamat, who assumed charge two months ago, assured to make all the government departments people-friendly and bring in transperancy in their functioning.

Declaring various new schemes, Kamat said the citizens' facilitation centres would be launched in all the 13 municipalities of the coastal state.

"These centres will enable the citizens to get all the information at one place and act as interface with the Government," he said.

Kamat stated that Indira Universal Health Insurance Scheme would be implemented in the state and it will cover all the citizens.

"We are committed to the people and will do all the possible ways to make their lives comfortable."

The tri-colour was hoisted by the chief minister in the presence of several ministers, government officers and citizens.

Kamat also inspected the parade of Goa police.
