21 killed in China coal mine fire


Beijing, Nov 21 (IANS): At least 21 people were killed in a fire in a coal mine in China's Heilongjiang province.

Rescuers on Saturday found 21 bodies and were searching for another miner missing after a coal mine caught fire around 11 p.m. on Friday night, Xinhua reported.

The mine in Jixi city was operated by state-owned Heilongjiang Longmay Mining Holding Group, authorities said.

A total of 38 miners were working when the fire broke out, and 16 of them managed to escape.
