Beltangady, Aug 14: The rise cases of idol thefts from various temples and basadis in the taluk have literally left police clueless after they failed to solve many cases.

The investigations have become difficult since these thefts were carried out in a professional manner without leaving any clues behind.  The police have failed even to get any vital tip-off about the thefts of idols worth several crore of rupees in Parmanu Basadi near Nada, almost a month ago.

The delegation led by Lalithakeerthi Bhattaraka of Karkala Jain Math has submitted a memorandum to Beltangady tahsildar on Monday August 13 urging to take measures to protect the ancient basadis and the idols, since the series of thefts in Jain Basadi has stunned the Jain community.

It is not only the case of basadis but idols have been stolen even from temples across the taluk and even in the district. But various factors have affected the investigation and police have not been able to get any clues in this regard.
