Bangalore, Aug 14: In view of the recent Al Queda threat to carry-out terror activities all across the country, the State government has decided to step up security for the Independence Day celebrations.

Home Minister M P Prakash told reporters on Monday that additional forces will be deployed all across the State, including in Bangalore. Meanwhile, the Home Department has decided to take up construction of new offices by raising loan from Housing and Urban Development Cooperation (HUDCO).

Prakash said that 584 offices will be constructed at a cost of Rs 158.67 crore and in the second phase nearly 186 buildings will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 92 crore.

‘‘The proposal is pending before the finance department will soon come up before the Cabinet for a final approval,’’ he said.

The Minister said that the Centre was sanctioning 75 per cent of the building cost and the remaining 25 per cent will be raised through loans from HUDCO.
