Mangalore, Aug 13: The development officers of National, New India, Oriental, and United India Insurance Company will go on hunger strike across the country, said Madhav Suvarna state president of All India General Insurance Field Workers Association (AIGIFWA), Karnataka.

He was speaking at press conference here on Monday August 13.

The strike will be organized in Bangalore on Tuesday August 14, at Madras on Tuesday August 21, and in Calcutta on August 28 condemning the discrimination and the possibility of the conspiracy to sell the companies to private sectors, he informed.

He also alleged there has been an attempt to keep the development officers away from the main stream. The salary of the officers has not been revised against those that of the Class I and Class III, and Class IV in September 5 though the Supreme Court has ordered to revise, he added.

The decision was followed by having written letters to the president of India, Prime Minister, and chief justice on Monday August 6 in connection with the Salary revise, he said.

Santhosh Shetty, unit president Mangalore, Manohar Pai secretary, S K Jain and Suchethan were present at the press meet.
