Mangalore, Aug 13: As many as 8 teams qualified for the state preliminary round of “Verbattle Junior-2007”, a state-level inter-school debate competition, organized by “TV House”, a media company here on Sunday August 12.

Five teams from St Theresa's High School, two teams from Amber Valley High School Chikmagalur and one from St Aloysius High School qualified for the state preliminary round.

The state preliminary round will be held in Bangalore on Thursday August 23 and Friday August 24.

Jake Texeira and K M Rajath, Roshni Maria and Niveah Tettilah, Sathya Krishna and Karthik Ramakrishna, B Pallavi and Joey Monteiro and Oralia Rego and Delroy Joshua of St Theresa's High School qualified while A B Aditya and B A Anshrutha and Yashaswini Rao and Rushir Sisodia from Amber Valley and A Aditya and Mohanjeeth Marla of St Aloysius High School too qualified.

As many as 22 teams from Mangalore zone participated in the event. The next selection round will be held on Tuesday August 14 in Mysore, on Thursday August 16 at Hubli and the final three rounds in Bangalore on Monday August 20, Tuesday August 21 and Wednesday August 22.

The state preliminaries, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final will be held in Bangalore on Thursday August 23 and Monday August 27.
