Mangalore, Aug 11: Special Economic Zone (SEZ) contributes to the progress of social, economical and all spheres.  It is essential for the progress of the nation, said New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) chairman Tamilvanan.

He was speaking at the inaugural of state-level seminar on SEZ, that was held under the aegis of Govind Das College, department of commerce and economics on saturday Aug 11.

The residents should not be apprehensive over any kind of difficulty, that would be anticipated by seting up SEZ.  Exports from industrial sector would record significant growth through SEZ. The achievement of NMPT proves this accord, he said.

Editor of 'Issues and Concerns' Jayaram Shriyan delivered the lecture.

SDM College principal Dr B K Ravindra spoke on the norms of SEZ.  Mangalore University, head of department of economics G V Joshi spoke on the recent developments taken place in the coastal district and prospect for setting up SEZ.

Mangalore SEZ chief executive officer, A G Pai, delivered the keynote address.
