Mangalore, Aug 11: A sensitisation programme on tuberculosis (TB) and HIV+ (AIDS) for the students of Government College, Kavoor was held in association with Rotary Club Mangalore Central, Rotaract Club Mangalore City, district TB Association and District TB center, on Thursday Aug 9.

District TB officer and district AIDS nodal officer Dr Ramakrishna Rao explained the nature of TB, the causes for spreading of the infection and signs and symptoms of the infection, besides prescribing necessary steps required to be taken to prevent the infection. 

He also informed that the free medicines are available for treating AIDS cases while awareness would be essentially held to prevent HIV/AIDS. Head of the community medicine department KMC Dr Sajjan Somappa also spoke on the occasion.

Rotary's Pulse Polio chairman Dr Devdas Rai, Rotary Mangalore Central president Prakash Kotian, Government College principal Sunil Kumar and others were present at the function.
