10 militants killed in Afghanistan


Kabul, Nov 12 (IANS): At least 10 Taliban militants were killed in a clash with the police in Afghanistan's Baghlan province, an official said on Thursday.

"Taliban militants launched attacks on police checkpoints on Wednesday night and police returned the fire triggering a gunbattle which left 10 Taliban rebels dead," Xinhua quoted Baghlan province deputy police chief Abdul Rashid Bashir as saying.

Three police personnel sustained injuries during the gunfight, the police officer said.

Taliban militants were yet to make any comment.
