Mangalore, Aug 9: The chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, Dr C Rangarajan will deliver a special lecture on ‘Financial Inclusion’, here at the old senate hall on Friday, August 10.

The said programme will be organised by Corporation Bank Chair in bank Management established in the University. The Mangalore Varsity vice-chancellor Prof K M Kaveriappa will preside over the function.

On this occasion Corporation Bank, chairman B Sambamurthy will release a profile of activities of the Corporation Bank Chair according to a press release from the department of Economics Chairman and Corporation Bank Chair co-ordinator Prof G V Joshi.

The release informed that till now it has organised four national seminars and group discussions on banking which had resource persons presenting NABARD and the RBI. A research project on uncertainty and profitability in Indian banking sector and a short term project on microfinance had been initiated by the Chair.

Chair’s co-ordinator Prof Joshi guided a PhD thesis on ‘Commercial banking during the era of reforms’. The Chair published five books and review articles on this matter and these in turn had been published in reputed journals like Indian Economic Journal, Indian Journal of Agricultural Economics, Journal of Social and Economic Development.  A case study of the Corporation Bank was made by Govind Bhat.
