GDA to launch drive against illegal land use

Ghaziabad, Oct 30 (IANS): The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has planned to launch a drive against using residential premises for commercial purposes here.

"We have to launch the drive before Diwali by all means. The GDA is getting the regular complaints regarding using residential premises for business purposes which have defaced the city," GDA officer on special duty (OSD) D.P. Singh said on Friday.

"Illegal land use has created a problem in the residential colonies. It results in traffic jam and creates problems for the administration," Singh said.

"Initially, we have scrutinised the big business houses operating from the residential premises. These include hospitals, banks, hotels, banquette halls and others."

"In the next phase, the rule will be enforced to screen all the residential areas where grocery shops, parlours and boutiques have been set up," the official added.
