Enjoy food but respect others' sentiments: Chef Manish Mehrotra

Kolkata, Oct 30 (IANS): Star chef Manish Mehrotra does not agree with the beef ban and says one must enjoy food but respect others' sentiments as well.

"As a chef, I do not agree with all these. Till the time I am eating it and not hurting anyone, it's fine," Mehrotra told IANS on the sidelines of the India Story Exhibition here on Friday.

The award-winning chef who heads the kitchen at Indian Accent in New Delhi feels "everybody should know their boundaries."

"I love beef. Say for example, someone does not prefer garlic or onion, then I would respect their wish and not eat it in front of them," he elaborated.

Mehrotra also suggested moderation in the light of World Health Organization's (WHO) recent announcement that certain processed meat products are carcinogenic.

"Everything in moderation is the key. Orange juice is healthy but have five litres of it one day and see what it does to your health," he said.
