Udupi, Aug 7: Founder-publisher of  Kannada eveninger ‘Karavali Ale’ B V Seetaram said here on Monday August 6, that the mainstream dailies should give more importance to the problems concerning the common man.

Seetaram was speaking at the launch function of ‘Janashakti’, a Kannada weekly, which was organized by the district unit of Communist party of India (Marxist)

There is more commercialization and communalization of newspapers now than it was before, opined Prof Varadesh Hiregange of Manipal Institute of Communication. The editor of Janashakti’ S Y Gurushanth also spoke on the occasion.

P Vishwanath  Rai, general secretary of the Udupi district unit of CITU, K Shankar, General secretary of  the district unit of CPI (M) and advocate Yashwanth Maroli, were present at the function.
