Margao, Aug 6: Harmal, Shiroda and Bori panchayats are among those who have passed a resolution in gram sabha, to keep a watch on the influx of non-Goans coming to their villages.

Irate people of these villages, showing concern over non-Goans coming to Goa, and doing business illegally, demand that it should be made mandatory for such outsiders  to give their details to the panchayat and the police.

Villagers says that the departments concerned have failed to keep a watch on them, as a result of which many robberies have taken place in these recent years. Four non-Goans, who were staying in rented places Quepem, had been arrested by the police in connection with robberies at many places in Goa two months ago.

When their rented room was raided, the police had found many laptops, 34 mobiles and other electronic Items.

It is being said that in Goa's three major industrial estates 30 percent are non-Goan workers.

When contacted, a labour contractor said that these labour class non-Goans, who come from Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and other states to Goa in search of jobs, are paid only 1800 per month. They do not demand more and do any given hard work. But Goans find it hard to do so.

Villagers from Bori and Shiroda vented their anger on sarpanchas as they do not ask for the details of these people from the owners of houses who rent the rooms to them.
