Guidance Camp: The Parish priest Fr Charles Menezes delivering the valedictory speech at the end of the two-day education camp at Rajeshwara High school in Adyarpadavu, declared strongly that lazy youths should be starved to death. 

Fr Menezes advised parents that they should be aware of their child’s interests and help them to select courses in tune with their interests. Gainful employment should be the objective of every youth, he averred.

The camp was organized by the Mangalore Nehru Yuva Kendra, District Employment and Exchange office.

Free Medical Camp: A free bone mineral density camp will be held at Dr T M A Pai Hospital, Udupi on August 10, stated a press release. The camp will be open from 9 am to 4 pm. People aged above 40 years can get themselves registered for this camp by contacting phone no.s (0820) – 2526501/502. 

Unit head of Department of Orthopedic Dr T M A Pai Hospital, Janardhan Aithal stated that early onset of osteoporosis can be diagnosed by the non-invasive ‘Bone Mineral Density’ Test.  

KDP Meeting: Minister for Fisheries and Endowment and district-in-charge B Nagaraj Shetty will preside over Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) meeting at the Zilla Panchayat office here on August 7, stated a press release.

Shetty will review the progress of development works at the meeting starting on Monday August 6.

Souvenir‘Al Hasnat’: Dakshina Karnataka Sunni Centre has organized a Sunni Meet at the Town Hall on August 9 as per press release.

A souvenir ‘Al Hasnat’ will be released on the occasion. The function will be presided over by K S Attakoya Thangal Kumbol, president DK Sunni Center’s Central Committee, Mangalore.

Rehabilitation Scheme:  The state government has introduced a scheme under the Suvarna Kayaka project to rehabilitate unemployed youth who had become dependent on lottery business. 

With lottery being banned by the state government, individuals selling lottery tickets, lottery agents keen on rehabilitation should submit relevant documents to the assistant director Investment Information Management and Rehabilitation at the DC office. 

Bill Payment Week:   Outstanding Bill Payment Week would be observed by the MESCOM in Udupi district from Aug 6 to 10, stated a press release from MESCOM.

Those who did not pay their electricity bill were requested to pay during this period, the release informed.

Verbal Debate Competition: The zonal selection round of a state-level inter-school debate competition in English namely ‘Verbattle’ (an acronym for verbal battle) will be held in the city on August 12 as per press release. 

‘Verbattle’ encourages young minds to think freely and present arguments logically thereby initiating a process of creating good leaders of the society. Students interested in participating in the tournament should be aged between 12 and 16 years educated in English medium schools.
