Kejriwal meets family of man allegedly killed by policeman

New Delhi, Oct 28 (IANS): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday met the family of Rajan, the 19-year-old man who died after being allegedly beaten by a Delhi Police constable.

Kejriwal and senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Dilip Pandey visited Ranjan's house in Narela area of outer Delhi. Rajan died after being allegedly beaten up by Delhi Police constable Pramod Kumar at a Dussehra fair in Narela area on October 26.

Agitated over Rajan's death, a group of protesters had blocked the national highway.

"The constable has been suspended and an inquiry initiated. Further action shall be taken accordingly," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Vikramjit Singh said.

"A preliminary medical report revealed that the teenager had extremely high blood sugar and he went into a diabetic coma, which is a life-threatening complication," he added.
