Udupi, Aug 6: A phone call from an unknown person to the Padubidri police, alerted the police there, who then with the said information reached the spot immediately and confisticated a tempo being loaded with alcohol spirit worth around Rs 3.30 lac near Abbedi in Padubidri here, on Sunday August 5.

According to the police at the raid site they arrested Prabhakar a resident of Kuntalpady in Karkala however the main culprit managed to escape from the spot. The raid was conducted by district SP Dr Subramanneshwar Rao, SP Lalburam and CI Praveen Nayak alongwith the Pudubidri police.

From the raid site the police took into custody 72 plastic cans which contained 35 litres of alcohol in each, and a tempo track. The arrested person Prabhakar in his defence said that the arrack was being transported to Kerala and he was not aware of any thing and that he was just a driver of the tempo.
