Udupi, Aug 6: As a result of incessant rains in the district for the past one week, a house belonging to Chandrashekar (55), located at Saraswati Nagar in Pangala under the jurisdiction of Innanje gram panchayat on Sunday August 5 around noon.

The house owner, Chandrashekar, got crushed under the wreckage, while his grandson Deepak survived with minor injury.  Chandrashekar was serving as veterinary assistant in the animal husbandry department, Katapady and his family now has been rendered homeless. The loss has been placed around Rs 56 thousand.

The local MLA, taluk panchayat member Jagdish Acharya, Naveen Amin, Innanje gram panchayat president Ravi Varma Shetty, Tahsildar Uday Kumar Shetty and others visited the spot. 

Former minister Vasant Salian has urged the state government to release a temporary relief of Rs 50 thousand and provide house under Ambedkar Housing Project.

A case has been registered at Kaup police station
