Mangalore, Aug 5: 'Janasamparka Sabhe' series or the public contact programmes scheduled to be held in the first and second week of August in various  wards of the city has been cancelled by the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), informs a press release.

The press release from the office of Mangalore City Corporation commissioner Krishnappa Poojary, explaining the reason for the cancellation, states that the meetings could not be held because of the election model code of conduct which has now come into force.

In accordance with  the schedule the MCC should have held such meetings in 9 different locations in the city covering all the 60 wards intermittently from August 1 to 12  (barring Sundays) but not even one meeting was held because of different reasons.

Those meetings will now be held after the new council would have assumed office, informed the press release.
