Mangalore, Jul 30: Block in the coronary arteries can be removed through radial intervention on outpatient basis. By developing this technique, there is a new dawn in the field of interventional cardiology, said Dr Yusuf Kumble, senior cardiologist of KMC in the press conference here on Monday July 30.

In the olden days, where the new approach was not in use, the patients had to be present in the hospital for couple of days to undergo the procedure. But the new approach has not only lessened the number of days but also the complications related to the surgery; bleeding, heamatoma or pain at the site, the cardiologist informed.

The patients can walk out soon after the intervention; it has also reduced the side effects, he added.

Radial intervention is offered in the very few centers of India. By performing this technique KMC cardiologists achieved another milestone in the field of interventional cardiology, a press note stated.

Dr Sunil Deshpande, chief operating officer of KMC, Dr Yusuf Kumble, Dr Narasimha Bhat and Dr Narayana Bhat, cardiologists at KMC were   present at the press meet.
