Mangalore, Jul 30: Government of Karnataka has conferred S L Dharme Gowda, M L A of Birur consituency with Karnataka Rajya Sahakari Ratna, for his distinguished service and achievements in cooperative sector.

He has been known for his knowledge on grass root level of the difficulties faced by farmers, rural poor, bureaucrats and his colleagues in politics besides.  He has toured abroad to get insight into dairy farming, farming in the developing countries. With this background, he has contested for last assembly election and elected as MLA from Birur constituency. After becoming MLA, tremendous development work has been accomplished with prompt response and speedy action taken in favor of the needy, irrespective of caste and creed, thereby honoring the demands in general. 

Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy honored S L Dharme Gowda by presenting the Award during the inauguration of valedictory of centenary celebration of cooperative movement in Mysore on Thursday Jul 26. The programme was attended by more than 50,000 thousand people.

Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar, CM H D Kumaraswamy, PWD and energy minister H D Revanna, former C M  Dharm Singh, former minister H K Patil, minister for cooperative societies G T Deve Gowda, were present on the dais.
