Sumasourabha and Kannada & Culture dept: The Canara bank DGM T D Pai will inaugurate the “Yaksha Sangeetha Nada Vaibhava” today at the Town hall, Mangalore at 4.30 pm. 

Kannada Sahithya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punaroor will preside over the function, Kannada and Culture assistant director H C Rangappa and Corporation bank GM A Mohan Rao are the chief guests on the occasion.  

Strategies in Epics: Dr Shikaripura Krishnamurthy, Professor in Sanskrit at St Aloysius College will deliver a talk on ‘Management strategies in Indian epics’ at the SDM College of business management auditorium, Kodialbail, Mangalore today, at 6 pm. 

Streetlight Complaints: The public has been asked to register their complaint through to a 24-hour toll free number, if any streetlights under MCC limits do not function properly, by the DC M Maheshwar Rao who also happens to be the administrator of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC). 

The complaints will be immediately attended to and if not responded to then the public should inform the MCC Commissioner or the DC/MCC administrator, stated a press release. 

“Bobbarya Paddana”: According to a press release the fifth programme of the Tulu Dharma Samshodhana Kendra, based in Perooru was held at Angadimane in Perooru village in Udupi taluk recently.

The “Bobbarya Paddana” in Gamaka style was recited by the Kendra director Perooru Jaru during the programme. The Kendra has planned to organize a total of 12 such programmes in its inaugural year. The next function will be held on August 26, added the press release.

Postponement of RTA meet: The meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) which was scheduled to be held on July 28, has been postponed to August 4. 

As per the release from the secretary of Mangalore RTA, the said meeting will begin at 10.30 on the revised date, and the concerned persons can participate on their own or through their advocates or authorized representatives.

Music programme “Basni”: The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Konkani Association, Udupi will organize “Basni” a Konkani musical programme at Milagres College, Kalyanpura on August 6 as per their press release.

The president of the Konkani Academy Eric Ozario, will participate in the programme. 

Seminar: A seminar on”Developing a mindset of questioning in children” will be organized by the Bharatiya Jnana Vignana Samithi at the Teacher’s Training College in Balmatta on Saturday, 28 July according to a press release.

C H Krishnashastri Balil, Reni D’Souza and B M Rohini will also participate in the seminar.

PG Courses started: MA in Economics and English as new courses has been introduced by the Mangalore University at the Government First Grade College at Tenkanidiyoor in Udupi from the academic year 2007-08, according to a press release here on Thursday 26 July.

The application for the said PG courses is made available and can be purchased from the office of the university. Interested candidates may submit the filled applications to the chairpersons of the respective departments at the university by July 31, the release added.
