Mangalore, Jul 27: Child Line and Child Welfare Committee (CWC) members have rescued a child labourer from the house of a Tamil journalist at Valachil near Farangipet here on Thursday July 26.

The rescued child has been identified as Saraswati (8), a native off Raigadh in Maharashtra. She was working in the house of Sundaram, journalist of a Tamil newspaper for the last 22 days.

Child Line and (CWC) began the search for child laborer after receiving the information over the phone that the girl was employed Sundaram's house. They were successful in rescuing her from a journalist’s house.

The juvenile court has issued summons to arrest Sundaram, his wife Jyothi and mother-in-law Lakshamma in this regard. 

CWC members Renny D’Souza, Geo D’Silva Agrar and Hilda Rayappan were involved in rescuing the child. Later the child was accommodated at Prajna Fit Persons Institution located in Bejai.
