Mangalore, Jul 26: The agricultural lands of Permude, Thenka-Yekkar, Kuthethur, Delanthabettu villages will be acquired by the Industrial Development Activities (IDA), said Madhukar Amin, president of Krishi Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi at a press conference here on Friday July 26.

He further said that the residents of these villages are not willing to give away their lands to IDA.

The officials concerned have misguided the people, he said. According to those twisted comments, 90% of the villagers are ready to handover their land. But this is baseless, even 1% of the villagers are not ready to do so, the president added.

The occupying of land is illegal as the process is against the wishes of the people, this is condemnable, added.

People have not been taken into confidence at the time of planning and implementation of the projects. The land acquired for projects will destroy the local culture in the long run, he expressed.

As per a press statement only 22% of the total land is fit for the agricultural activities. But this is not the fact, the fact is that a particular area is used as complementary to the actual agricultural purpose, the president explained.

The land of Dakshina Kannada is the most suitable for agriculture as it receives good rain. Hence nothing can be alternative to the agriculture in the district, said the members of the Samithi present in the conference.

Lawrence D'Cunha, chief secretary, Vedavyasa Rao, treasurer, GK Puvappa, member, William D'Souza, vice-president were present at the press conference.

I would recommend to have industries which will not pollute the environment but government always wants to setup industries which will pollute the local region and environment ....like Nagarjun company ...its really very dangerous for our environment and every one should oppose it whole heartedly....

It is very sad to hear that Mangalore is becoming a industrial hub where it destroys the beautiful natural greenery.thereby causing many disasters.  The Mangalore people whole heartedly without any differences should come together and fight against these unwanted land aquisitions, thereby we can stop pollution of our rivers and save our centuries old churches, temples and mosques.
