Hindustan CD release: A CD brought out by Sangeetha Creations will be released here at a function organized at Hotel Woodlands on Wednesday July 25. The CD namely ‘Hindustan’ will contain Urdu patriotic songs which will be released by writer Amrith Someshwar. 

The District Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Ullal MLA U T Khader, Tulu Sahitya Academy president M K Seetharam Kulal, Konkani Sahitya Academy president  Eric Ozario will also be present on the occasion. 

Workshop:

ICI Mangalore held a Zone trainers workshop at Nalapad Residency in the city. Zone XIV president Prasanna Kumar inaugurated a three-day workshop and zone XV president Anil Kumar was the chief guest.

Election to Mogaveera Mandali: Vasudeva Boloor was unanimously elected as the president of the district unit of the Magaveera Vyavasthapaka Mandali, which he will hold till 2010. Lakshman Bengre and Yathish Baikampady were elected vice president and general secretary respectively.

The secretaries elected were Dinakar Mitrapatna and Revathi K Putran former corporator. Bharat Kumar Salian Ermal was elected as treasurer. 

Condemned: The attack on TV9 television channel has been termed as an attack on the freedom of the press by the Nagarika Seva Trust. 

The Konkani Yuva Awaaz has also criticized the attack in a press release, who has also demanded stern action against the accused. 

The District Working Journalists Association, Youth Congress committee, Karnataka Rakshabna Vedike were also among other organizations to condemn the attack.  They even staged ‘dharnas’ and submitted memorandums to the district superintendent of police, condemning the attack on the channel.

Blood donation camp: This camp has been organized by Utsahi Taruna Vrunda at Managudda primary school recently, as per their press release.

The camp has been organized in association with Kasturba Medical College, hospital and Red Cross Society.
