Puttur / Uppinangady, Jul 25: After the visit of alleged Naxals at Hatyadka last week, undeclared night curfew has been imposed in the interior areas of Uppinangady ever since.
In the areas of Hatyadka, Kokkada, Shishila, Arasinamakki, Shibaje etc, villagers are scared to come out of their homes in the nights. During evenings, one can find people in a mighty hurry to get into their houses. No doubt, people here are experiencing an undeclared state of curfew nowadays.
Even the villagers would not be able to sleep if a dog barks. Any newcomer is looked at in suspicion. His moverments are watched and the houses he visit are marked in mind.
The police here keep visiting Chandrashekhar Gore's house, where the suspected Naxals paid a visit recently. It has remained a mystery if they were really Naxals.
There are reasons for their not being actual Naxals:
1. They visited Gore's house but asked for one Tamhankar, who is a JD(S) leader. There could be some personal score to settle.
2. Usually they leave behind handbills But in this case they did not.
3. Naxals always carry their trade-mark red writing implements. On Gore's walls they scribbled on the wall in black letters, with the help of immediately available charcoal.
4. The use of a polished word 'dhana' instead of colloquial word 'hana' for money has political analysts to deduce that it was the handiwork of detractors to bring a bad name to certain persons.
5. By mentioning the name of Vithal Hegde, it is suspected that those persons wanted to disparage the name of Kalkuli Vithal Hegde who is in the forefront of the movement supporting Kudremukh tribals.
