Germany's benchmark DAX index climbs up slightly


Frankfurt, Oct 7 (IANS): The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange rose slightly and closed at 9,902.83 points.

The blue-chip index was slightly up by 88.04 points, or 0.9 percent.

The manufacturing giants of German automobile industry advanced dramatically, showing that mainstay of the country's economy somewhat recovered from the Volkswagen emission scandal. Volkswagen AG Vz and Daimler AG as leading risers went up, respectively, by 3.82 percent and 2.50 percent, and Continental AG climbed up 1.54 percent.

RWE AG St, Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA and Merck KGaA were the top-three fallers, dropping, respectively, by 1.87 percnt, 0.7 percent and 0.42 percent, Xinhua reported on Tuesday.

The turnover fell to 3.47 billion euros (around $3.91 billion). Volkswagen AG Vz was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 310.11 million euros (around $349.21 million).
