Mangalore, Jul 17: Iddya Karunasagar has joined Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)  of the United Nations as a senior fishery industry officer (quality assurance).

Karunasagar was national professor and former director of research of Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU). He will be stationed in FAO headquarters at Rome, Italy and will be looking into the issues of fish quality and safety in fish production. He will also assist FAO members in technical issues.

According to release he has the responsibility to provide scientific advice to Codex Alimentarius commission.
