Mangalore, Jul 16: Catholic Board of Education (CBE) will celebrate its platinum jubilee celebration formally at the Bishop’s House and in other institutions of the board here on Thursday, July 26.

CBE secretary Fr Wilson V D’Souza said in a press release that there are 160 primary schools, 40 high schools, 16 pre-university colleges, five first-grade colleges and one ITI as well as 10 primary schools and two high schools in Kasaragod taluk under the CBE.

He also stated that in 1932 Bishop V R Fernandes decided to bring under one umbrella, all institutions imparting education to students of all communities in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district.

As part of the jubilee, scholarships to enable poor dalit students to aid their higher education and issuance of health cards to the employees. A year-long programme will be organized in all the institutions to commemorate the landmark.
