Bantwal, Jul 15: A protest was held against the proposed garbage disposal yard of Bantwal town panchayat at Pannadka in B Mooda village on Sunday July 15.

Addressing the protesters, former state minister Ramanath Rai said that the land for the proposed land was purchased for the purpose of opening a new college and develop the area. But now the land is used for garbage processing yard, he informed.

He further said that hundreds of poor families were living around this place. Their condition would worsen if the dumping yard started functioning. Hence, the struggle to save this beautiful place would continue, he stated.

Modankap parish priest Fr Roque D’Sa, local leaders Dolphy Prashanth D’Souza, Walter Monteiro, Flossy D’Souza, Prakash Shetty, Padmashekhar Jain, Roshan D’Souza and Richard Monteiro were present at the protest.
