Karkal: Jul 15: “The act of rendering justice would be a noble service while the judges and lawyers serving as the prime pillars of judiciary ought to discharge their duties by according higher significance to truth and honesty,” opined retired Supreme Court judge and current Lok Ayukta of Karnataka Justice Santosh Hegde.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the newly-built Lawyer Vasudev Rao Memorial Hall, erected by Karkala Bar Association at their premises.

“In the backdrop of prevailing trends of degeneration of judiciary in the recent past, the lawyers are expected to work responsibly towards reducing these lapses, and thus provide speedy and justice acceptable to all.  The dignity of the legal profession and honour should be held with high esteem.  The sole objective of becoming a lawyer should not be merely for gaining plenty of money.  Therefore, it would not be a business or commercial venture to do so” said justice Hegde.

He further said that it would not be difficult to achieve success in the legal profession as achieved by Udupi district session court judge Gulwady G Ramesh through relentless effort and analytical capabilities.  Moreover one can be truly successful in this profession provided one gains rich experience in speaking skills, positive attitude besides being totally committed to judiciary," opined Hegde.

HC judge Abdul Nazeer conveyed his best wishes.  S R Achar, a practising lawyer for 30 years who has donated the building was felicitated on the occasion.
