Mangalore, Jul 14: : A central processing centre (CPC)  to handle foreign exchange transactions has been opened by the Karnataka bank Limited at Kodialbail here.

The CPU will help process forex transactions of various branches at a centrally located place, which in turn will facilitate efficient service to the customers across the country, stated the bank chairman Ananthakrishna.

He further added that the bank will be able to access more clients through increased number of designated branches nationwide.

The bank had achieved foreign exchange business turnover of Rs 6101.16 crore during 2006-07. This current financial year it proposes to achieve a target turnover of Rs. 8,500 crore.

Moreover, the bank is planning to increase the number of its branches to 430 from the current 411, by the end of March, 2008.
