Beltangady, Jul 12: A strange ailment has been cited in the neighborhood of Guruvaynakere near here, in the areas under the jurisdiction of Melanthabettu village and few areas under the limits of Beltangady town panchayat since the past one month.  Sources said that almost 20% of the locals have been affected by the ailment which is yet to be diagnosed.

The residents living in the vicinity of Ganadakottige here, behind Guruvayankere masjid and a few residents living near Abhaya hospital are suffering from joint pain, fever, swelling of hands and legs, no hunger and other symptoms for the past one month.

Siddamma (65) Bhavani (43) Sanjeev Moolya (53) Ravichandra (62) Mutthappa Naik (68) Neelamma (60) Sharief (65) Jayanthi (48) Saramma (47) Prema (35) Athijamma (58) Kamala (65) Jayanthi (48) and other residents of Pakkidakala were seem to have affected by this ailment first.  They are distressed since they have not recovered from their illness for over a month.  The mystery of ailment has deepened as they have not found any relief despite undergoing treatment.
