Director reveals Spider-Man's age in 2017's reboot

Los Angeles, Sep 23 (IANS): Director Jon Watts has shared that the superhero will be 15 years old when he appears in the "Spider-Man" reboot, which will arrive in July 2017.

It's known that Peter Parker will be younger in an untitled new Spider-Man movie, but fans still don't know the specific age of the webslinger.

Tom Holland, a 19-year-old actor, who is tapped to portray Spider-Man, seemingly will play a bit younger character when he dons the red-and-blue suit as director Jon Watts reveals that Parker will be 15 years old in the upcoming reboot, reports aceshowbiz.com.

"There are only so many times you can kill Uncle Ben. I love the idea of making a coming-of-age high school movie," Watts told Empire Magazine.

"We're really going to see Peter Parker in high school and get deeper into that side of it. He's just 15 now."

Since Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's versions of the webslinger were at the end of their high school in the previous films, the new Spider-Man played by Holland will be the youngest one who has ever hit the big screen.

"Tom was pretty perfect. He's very athletic. He can actually do a backflip!" Watts said. "If he didn't already capture the spirit of the character, with that on top the kid is Spider-Man."

Holland's Spider-Man will make an appearance in upcoming "Captain America: Civil War", slated to be released in the US on May 6, 2016.
