Puttur, Jul 12: A group stopped a pick-up vehicle used to transport sheep and assaulted two persons who were in the vehicle at Parpunja near here on Tuesday July 10.

The persons who were injured in the attack are identified as Ashraf of Naynadu, driver of the vehicle and Ibrahim of Sullia.  They were transporting 8 sheep in the vehicle to a mutton stall owner in Sullia.

As they reached Parpunja, a group intercepted the vehicle and assaulted the duo.  Though it was not yet whether the attack was owing to some personal rivalry or mistaken identity that the duo was transporting cattle.

A complaint in this regard was filed in Puttur police station based on which the police arrested Hari Prasad of Thingaladi, Praveen, Umesh and Kiran Kumar.  They were later produced in the court which in turn released them on bail.
