Mangalore, Jul 11: Garbage bins are found missing from many areas of the city. People have been dumping wastes in places from where the garbage bins have been removed. So they have been using the adjacent footpaths as garbage dumping yard, which then spills all over even onto the main roads.

One can find such garbage dumped on footpaths near Kottara Chowki. The road before concretization had three bins near Chilimbi and Angadigudda. But now even that has been removed.

There are many other places which are being used as garbage dumps such as the ones near Urva store – Ladyhill road, Kudmul Rangarao road, near Bunts hostel and Bendoor well area.

The explanation provided by the health department officials is that the bins were removed as it would not look good on roads. And they added that people traveling by vehicles  will suffer moreover it will be a nuisance for the pedestrians walking near by also.

Arrangements to keep closed containers will be made, they said.
