Mangalore, Jul 9: Monday is usually the crowded day in buses, markets, banks, government offices.  But Monday July 9 was an exception for this as a holiday was declared to all public sector undertakings, schools and colleges in the state following the demise of former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar.

Though the holiday was declared on Sunday evening itself, most of the employees, students were not aware about it.  Most of the students came to their institutions and then went back.  This was the same case with bank employees too.

On the other hand customers too faced vivid problems owing to the sudden holiday.  Labourers whose salary day is on Monday were hard-hit by holiday. However, postal department, railways functioned as usual.
