Kundapur, Jul 6: A cowshed and a rice mill which belonged to Lakshmi Narayan Hatwar, a resident of Kome Koravadi of Thekkatte, near here caught were gutted in a major fire at Koravadi near here on Thursday July 5.

The damage caused is estimated up to Rs 4 lacs. Five cows which were in the shed during the incident were rescued from major injuries. But ten quintals of groundnut, hay of around Rs 10,000, a cot, and machineries of rice mill were destroyed.

Fire was later overpowered by fire brigade and police of Kundapur with the help of local.

Tahsildar of Kundapur, higher officials of MESCOM, Congress president of Kundapur block Movady Shivaram Shetty visited the spot.
