Mangalore, Jul 6: An employee of Mangalore Varsity has lodged a complaint with the Konaje police against vice-chancellor Prof K M Kaveriappa under SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.

S B Sharma, an employee with the Varsity has stated that vice-chancellor abused him with filthy language referring to his caste.

However, reports said that the vice-chancellor has denied these charges and stated that they are baseless and unjustified.

Explaining the incident Prof Kaveriappa said that the issue came up since the registrar of the University refused to withdraw transfer order of S B Sharma.  Since Sharma did not want to go to his new appointment at Madikeri, he even came to the registrar seeking cancellation of his transfer.  But when vice-chancellor too did not agree.  “I rather tried to make him understand that he had been promoted.  But he did not agree for this,” he added.
