Puttur, Jul 3: Anand Shenoy (27), an employee with Vijaya Supari in the town was beaten to death by two of his colleagues on Monday July 2.  The police have arrested two persons in this regard.

Anand Shenoy was working for the areca processing unit for the past many years.  On Monday afternoon he had come home and told his family members that he had been beaten in the working place.  A little while later Balakrishna, manager of the unit and another employee Jayant came to Anand's home and took him along with them.

However, there was no news from Anand thereafter till he was found in critical condition in a private hospital here.  Within a few minutes he breathed his last in the hospital.  Initially it was thought that he had attempted suicide.  But no sooner his brother alerted the police that he had been taken by unit employees, ASP Dr Harsha arrived on the spot and initiated enquiry.  Having seen wounds on his body, he ordered the town police to take up the case and submit him a detailed report.

Accordingly, the town police inspector Mukund Nayak took Balakrishna and Jayant to custody.  The initial police reports confirmed that he had been beaten to death.  They have continued investigation as per the complained lodged by Anand's brother.
