Mumbai, Jun 30:
Film producer and Diamond merchant Bharat Shah has been taken into judicial custody till July 12 for beating up a security guard in Royal Palm Hotel in Mumbai on Thursday. He applied for a bail which was rejected by the Borivali Sessions court. He has been booked under the Atrocities Act.

Earlier, Shah had filed a complaint in the Malabar Hill Police Station that he received threatening calls from a Dubai-based person. A senior Crime Branch official rubbished involvement of the underworld as the calls are reported to be considered outcome of a property dispute.

This is not Bharat Shah’s first brush with the law. He was arrested in January 2001 for his alleged connections with the underworld.
