Bangalore, Jun 29: A class 9 student suffered more than 15 per cent burns when his former computer teacher splashed kerosene and set him on fire at his residence in Cashier Layout in Taverekere on Tuesday.

The boy, Vijay, has been admitted to a private nursing home. The teacher is absconding.
Vijay and his teacher Suresh Babu were in the same school till last year. They were both removed from the school. Vijay got enrolled in Shantiniketan School this year.
 
On Thursday evening the boy visited the teacher’s room. Police said he pulled out a kerosene can from under the cot and spilt it. The teacher overpowered him to snatch the can and the oil spilt on both their clothes.
 
The teacher threatened the boy by lighting a matchstick but their clothes caught fire and both suffered minor burns.
