Karkala, Jun 28: A newspaper vendor was reportedly assaulted at Kukkikatte in Irvattur village near here on Wednesday June 27.
The victim has been identified as Vasant Pai. This incident occurred when he was coming back from Muratangady after collecting paper bundles early in the morning on Wednesday.
Vasant was accosted by two motorcyclists when he was on his rounds to deliver newspapers. The miscreants reportedly threw chilli powder on his eyes before hitting him on his head with an iron rod. They later fled the place.
Vasant has been admitted to the government hospital at Karkala. A case has been lodged in the Karkala rural police station.
