Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (KM/AF)

Mangalore, Jun 28: The Shiradi Ghat has been put off-limits to LPG bullet tankers to facilitate repair works till July 21, stated a press release.

The district administration had already banned heavy vehicles like oil, petrol tankers, timber, granite and mines trucks, and articulated vehicles from June 22 for a month. With the new order, only heavy unloaded vehicles will be allowed to ply on the road.

The ban is mainly to see that nothing hinders the repair work. The ban holds good for vehicles carrying tonnage exceeding 16,200 till the repair works are over.

However there was confusion as Hassan district administration has not imposed any such ban. There was a long queue of more than 500 trucks near the border. The chaos was solved only after the intervention of district in-charge minister Nagaraj Shettty.
