Mangalore, Jun 27: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has announced the state-level excellence award for Navodaya Charitable Trust sponsored by SCDCC Bank said M N Rajendra Kumar president of Trust and Bank.

Speaking at the press conference held at their auditorium on Tuesday June 26, he said that NABARD has awarded the Trust considering its.  The Bank has been the recipient of this award for the last 8 years.

The core objective of Navodaya Trust has been self-employment and women empowerment.  A total of 231 animators are engaged in forming Self Help Groups (SHGs) in 210 centres, he informed.

Out of a total of 25799 groups, 15585 SHGs were formed by women.  This is the unique feature of Navodaya. A total of 2, 36,494 members are involved in the SHGs, he added.

Moreover, the Trust is planning to open an outlet in Bantwal on experimental basis while a branch would be opened in Byndoor, he said.

N Ramesh Shetty, B Appanna Hegde, B Niranjan, K S Devaraj, A Jeevan Bhandary, Vinaykumar Surijne, Bhaskar S Kotian, T Raghava Shetty, Vadiraj Shetty, Raghuram Shetty, P Narayan Kamath, Praveenraj Udupa, Ramaiah, Parameshchandra Jain, Sunilkumar and Purnima,. were present at the press meet.
