Mangalore, Jun 27: Metereological department has predicted heavy rainfall in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts in the next 48 hours.

Karnataka Disaster Management Secretary G Lathakrishna Rao said that all the precautionary measures have been taken to shift people from the low lying areas and to check sea erosion. Preferences will be given for the formation of squads for the relief work and rehabilitation. District control room will function 24 hours.

Dakshina Kannada district has received 2,890.6 mm rainfall from June 14 to 23. Last year, the rainfall during the same period was 1063.7 mm.

Rainfall in various taluks are as follows: Mangalore 519.8 mm (287.8 mm), Puttur 446.4 mm (210.7 mm), Sullia 507.8 mm (260 mm), Bantwal 719.8 mm (154.6 mm) and Belthangady 624.8 mm (150.6 mm).
