BANGALORE, Jun 26:  An armed gang of five to six members in Kempe Gowda Nagar police limits attacked two police constables here on Sunday, June 24 evening.

The injured policemen attached to the K G Nagar police station, have been named as Narayanaswamy (26) and Hanumanthu (26). Both were later treated for their injuries at NIMHANS. The incident took place around 6 pm, when the plain-clothed policemen halted a Maruti Van parked at T R Mill parking lot. When the cops tried to check the van the gang without any provocation attacked the policemen with lethal weapons.
 
The two policemen were doing their duty, as they were searching for a Maruti van which was used for a robbery in Kumaraswamy Layout two days ago. On seeing the commotion when crowds began to gather, the attackers fled the crime scene leaving behind their van and weapons.

An immediate hunt was launched to apprehend the culprits. The police were successful in taking three persons into custody within a few hours.
 
According to the ACP G T Nayak - Chamarajpet sub-division the process of investigation was still on and was hopeful of nabbing the remaining culprits very soon.
