Mangalore, Jun 26: Former state minister Vasant V Salian has criticized the government for giving special concession to the proposed coalpbased Nagarjuna power plant at Yellur in Udupi district, in a press release on June 25.
He has stated in the press released that the people of the region were totally opposed to the project, yet the government had gone ahead with giving clearances to the project. The very same government which has failed to solve the problems of farmers, and small-scalel and cottage industries has allowed the setting up of a project like Nagarjuna.
He also criticized the decision of the government to have the project set up in an area like Udupi. This is an anti-people measure, said the release.
